On Feb 6, 1988 Shemonte Mayfield (a.k.a Young Commercial) was born in Louisville, Ky., conceived by Latania Mayfield and raised by his grandparents Samuel and Angel Mayfield. He’s the second oldest out of 6 brothers and sisters. Young Tray, his younger brother who is unable to walk, inspires the young artist to never give up and keep moving forward. Young Commercial found his niche by overhearing his stepfather, Meechie, spit rhymes one day and soon after Meechie taught YC how to write his first bar. After that, Young Commercial started writing songs and recording them on his computer with his older brother, Monty. He practiced everyday after school to perfect his style. At the age of 16, YC moved to Shively, an area in the city of Louisville, KY. , were he began to record songs in his make-shift basement studio. With much success, he was able to produce his first hit single in 2008 called “Smashin ‘on Em’” which he got over 45,000 hits off YouTube and went several weeks on B96.5’s “Hottest in the Ville” competition. On September 17th, 2009 his second hit single “Shawty Got A Strut” hit the air waves and is quickly becoming one of the hottest tracks being played to date. He is taking his career, his craft, and his brand to a new level. His motivation to succeed has inspired him to form his own entertainment company named, “50G’z Entertainment.” The company is headed by Young Commercial himself and Monique Mayfield-Pugh. Today Young Commercial and Mrs.Pugh continue to grind their way to the top.
